In December 2025, we hosted a global workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa with more than 50 participants. It was a key international convening, funded by the Wellcome Trust, to help shape global standards for responsible data sharing in brain and mental health research. Attendees included people with lived experience, key stakeholders, ethicists, legal experts, and neuroscience researchers.
In April 2025, BRIDGE hosted its second Africa Regional Workshop in Marrakesh, Morocco. The workshop was attended by a diverse group of community members, to include academics, researchers, industry partners, NGO and non-profit leaders, PWLE, legal experts, clinicians, and experts in public policy.
We are excited to announce the Second Annual BRIDGE Global Workshop, which will take place from December 5-7, 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa. We look forward to joining a diverse group of stakeholders to establish standards, create guidelines for data governance and establish the foundations for building an international brain coalition.
The Latin America BRIDGE Workshop took place on June 29, 2024 during Brain Congress 2024 – Brain, Behavior and Emotions; and on June 30, at IDOR Rio de Janeiro.

The Latin America Regional Committee, led by Drs. Fernanda Tovar Moll and Ricardo Chavarriaga, will host its first regional workshop in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
BRIDGE welcomes four regional experts to join the project as ambassadors. These individuals will provide key contributions in the areas of law, ethics, technology, and lived experience. The ambassadors reside in South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya.
